In Lavani, as good unconditional lovers of gold jewelry, we love that our jewels are finished with a 22 carat gold plating, bringing that vintage and elegant touch to our gold plated necklaces, rings and earrings to last forever.
How to care for gold plating so that the gold will last for a long time.
We know that, although our jewelry is fireproof and can be used in any occasion, it is always good to follow some guidelines to keep the gold plating as the first day and avoid unexpected scares. So, let's get to work!
What is gold jewelry and how is it bathed?
This jewelry technique, used since Victorian times, consists of covering our jewelry with a layer of gold to obtain that golden color.
The bath of our jewelry is obtained from different chemical or electrochemical processes, and although it will not be unalterable, we will obtain a quality, durable and much more economical jewelry.
At Lavani, we use a 22 carat 2/3 micron gold plating, which means that we use 100% pure gold and cover the jewel with a total of 2/3 micron (the thickest plating we can find).
We help you to maintain your bathroom
If you already have some of our jewelry, you will know that we love the light that gold brings and that we want you to wear all our necklaces and your favorite earrings in any occasion, but it is also important to know that, in order to wear them perfectly, we have to take some things into account.
Cleaning the gold of our jewelry at home is very simple and will not take you too much time, but it is important to take care of it and pamper it so that it lasts.
Things to consider with your gold-plated jewelry
- It is better to take them off when you are going to do sports: you can damage them and you can also damage yourself if you get caught in them, so it is better to save them for another occasion.
- If you are going to apply make-up, perfume or comb your hair using chemical products, always do it before putting on your jewelry and make sure you put it on after all these products are dry, because they can damage your gold plating.
- Whether you keep them in a jewelry box or in a small box, it is best that each piece of jewelry is separated from each other (even the earrings between them) to prevent them from scratching.
- If you want to clean them to remove any excess grease or product, do so with warm water and neutral PH soap, rubbing gently with a chamois and then drying them with a felt cloth.
- We know that heat is not a great ally of jewelry, because in addition to making us sweat more, it also causes more humidity in the environment, so: if you are not going to wear them, keep them in a place that is kept at a constant temperature.
Even so, the PH of our own skin can cause the gold bath to change color over time, so it is important to know that, if this happens, we can also renew our gold bath: write to us and we will manage it with you .
