5 ways to take care of your jewelry this summer

Raise your hand if you are looking forward to a beer in the sun, sunbathing, enjoying a swim at the beach or lying in the sun for hours and hours until you get that tan we miss so much.

It is clear that this is our case, and also this summer we want to enjoy it as it deserves: in style. But this does not mean that we have to forget about such important and simple things as taking care of our jewelry, which, if done more or less regularly, will keep them perfect to last for many more summers. Although their care does not vary much with respect to the rest of the year, we want you to keep in mind small details that may save you from any problems.

Shall we start?

Summer heat

It's hot in summer, that's a fact. But it is also true that, depending on the region where we live, temperatures can become very high. If this is our case, we have to pay attention to where we store our jewelry: we must avoid places that attract heat and are exposed to the sun, because the accumulation of temperature on them, can cause our jewelry to deform. It is always better to keep them in a place with a constant temperature.

One lime and one sand

If you like to go to the beach with your multiple necklaces, show off your favorite anklet and not take off those earrings, you don't have to not do it. But you do have to be careful. At the beach, unless you always go to rocky beaches, sand can be a problem if you're not careful. Sometimes, it happens that grains of sand get into the carabiners of the necklaces and we do not realize it. It is important that we take care, and that when we get home we clean the jewelry to remove these grains so that they do not accumulate, because they can wear out both the chain and the stone.

The waves of the sea

It is clear that we want to have fun, swim in the sea and spend hours on a mat relaxing. And we want to do it wearing our jewelry. However, first of all you have to know a few things about salt water, because although it does not produce great damage (we are not days and days in the water, so do not panic), its roughness can leave its mark on our jewelry. This is because the waves of the sea work like sandpaper for our jewelry, wearing them little by little and tarnishing them. This tends to happen especially with porous stones. It is best not to soak them in salt water on a regular basis.

Humidity and sweat... what a horror!

Nobody likes to feel the humidity in places like Valencia (although we love it in spite of everything), and much less start sweating when we are walking down the street, so our jewelry is the same, especially if they are silver. Normally, this is not going to affect them seriously, but if we wear them all day and every day it will increase the possibility of having small harmful particles adhered to them. For this reason, once you get home and after cleaning them carefully, you should store them in a dry place.

Gold plating

Although this is not a jewelry care tip per se, it can save you a lot of jewelry. When choosing all-terrain jewelry for summer, those that you wear and do not take off at all, you should pay attention to the thickness of the gold plating. We recommend the thickest possible, so that they suffer the least possible damage. In Lavani you can find the L'Essentiel collection, a collection of chains ideal for summer thanks to its thick gold plating.

Now that you know a little more about how to keep your jewelry looking its best during the best time of the year, all you have to worry about is living!

If you still don't know which ones to wear this year but you know you want to be beautiful, original and very very summery, take a look at our Mermaid collection and combine it with the Essentiel collection, ideal for these wonderful months.
